Yahoo! Shopping and ValueCommerce setup
How to issue a Client ID at the Yahoo! JAPAN Developer Network, find your ValueCommerce sid and pid, and enter both in Pukulink.
What you need
| Item | Where it comes from | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Client ID (application ID) | Yahoo! JAPAN Developer Network | Product search and price fetching |
sid | A MyLink code at ValueCommerce | Building affiliate links |
pid | Same | Same |
The Client ID alone is enough to search products, but you need sid and pid for the links to earn anything.
Step 1: issue a Client ID
- Sign in to the Yahoo! JAPAN Developer Network with a Yahoo! JAPAN ID.
- Register a new application (you will be asked for a server-side / client-side classification and your site URL).
- Note the issued Client ID. There is no review; it works straight away.
Step 2: find your sid / pid at ValueCommerce
- Register with ValueCommerce and partner with the Yahoo! Shopping programme (partnering does involve a review).
- Once partnered, generate a MyLink code from the Yahoo! Shopping programme.
- The generated code contains something like
sid=1234567andpid=123456789. Note both numbers.
<a href="//ck.jp.ap.valuecommerce.com/servlet/referral?sid=1234567&pid=123456789&vc_url=...">
The bold parts are the sid and the pid (the numbers above are samples).
Step 3: enter them in Pukulink
In Settings > Pukulink > API settings, in the Yahoo! Shopping section:
- Tick Show the Yahoo! Shopping button
- Client ID (application ID)
- sid / pid
Then press Test Yahoo! to confirm the connection.
Link method offers ValueCommerce (the default) or Via Moshimo Affiliate. For Moshimo, paste a Moshimo “Easy Link” code and the IDs are imported for you (Moshimo setup). Product search always uses the official Yahoo! API regardless of this setting.
What Yahoo! can't do here
Yahoo! Shopping is the quickest to start with and the most constrained of the three. Worth knowing up front.
Items without a JAN code never update their price
Automatic price updates for Yahoo! Shopping only cover items that carry a JAN code. Items without one keep displaying the price captured at insertion. Handmade goods and bundles frequently have no JAN code.
Amazon (ASIN) and Rakuten Ichiba (itemCode) are not affected by this. If a product's price must stay current, make Amazon or Rakuten the main store.
Alternatively, turn off the price display for that one card. Removing a stale price is a legitimate option.
No product image gallery
The Yahoo! Shopping API returns only one product image, so swipeable multi-photo galleries are unavailable for Yahoo! items. The feature covers Amazon and Rakuten Ichiba only.
No link to the reviews page
Star ratings and review counts display fine, but a link to the review page is Amazon-only.
Other
- Result paging stops at roughly 990 items.
- For items with no store information, a price re-fetch may pick up a different store's price.
If the connection test fails
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| Authentication or authorisation fails | The Client ID issued by the Developer Network, and the state of the application itself. |
| Temporarily rate limited | The limit is roughly one request per second. Wait a second or more and retry. |
| Search works but links earn nothing | The sid / pid are missing or have the wrong number of digits. Re-copy them from a MyLink code. |
Saving a favourite store
On the Favourite stores tab, enter a Yahoo! store URL (https://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/STORE-ID/) or the store ID and press Verify and save to search inside just that store.
